About Us
President
It is obvious that while enjoying the materialistic comforts of the world human spirit always crave for a higher intangible sense of fulfillment in all the actions they do. Words cannot contain or express the satisfaction we receive from that sense of fulfillment. More often than not we tend to underestimate our capacity to stand by another form of life in times of need and feel remorse about it. However realizing own potential to serve others is a great deal in itself for many individuals. It would become a lifelong achievement if such realizations created spaces for all to serve each other. It is in this understanding ACDSSS invite people to create opportunities and willingness voluntarily and become more sensitive towards other forms of life celebrating human goodness.
Our Motto “Serve Empathy Skill Education Stir up Energy Live Volunteering Live Fullest”
When Empathy is being served, the Servant is being empathized. When Education is being Skilled, the Skill is refined. When Energy is being stirred up, synergy snowballs voluntary action. And You live on full spirit everyday! As a social change organization anchored on the teachings of the Catholic Church ACDSSS would like to open our avenues to encourage volunteering in the available spaces. We are promisingly opening it to individuals willing to commit for a cause.
Q. How do you want us to help you?
Q. What do you want to learn from us?
What are the opportunities you seek?
What could you give us?

Agra Catholic Diocese Samaj Seva Sanstha (ACDSSS) is a non-profit charitable voluntary organization registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. The organization is the sister concern of the Catholic Archdiocese of Agra encompassing 16 districts of U.P and 2 districts of Rajasthan. Rev. Dr. Albert D’Souza is the patron figure of ACDSSS and arbitrates obligations via an appointed director at the organization. ACDSSS hails inclusive development and empowerment of marginalized communities in the four districts of U.P.

Equity: We are aware of the need to be sensitive towards changes of the changing time. Therefore, our efforts are to ensure indiscriminate participation of men and women eliminating prejudice in the minds of people.

Solidarity: We share our firm determination and commitment in establishing a society where all receive their due for being children of God by recognizing solidarity among all affinity. Transparency and Accountability: We recognize transparency and accountability as the pre-conditions for being credible. And so we take the responsibility for our openness and loyalty in decision making, resource utilization and work performance.
Professionalism: In pursuit of quality performance we constantly encourage ourselves to access greater capacities because we believe excellence is achieved through professionalism.
Strategy :A process of animation among women and men to become aware, form and organize into groups and federations and to take actions for integrated, participatory and sustainable development
History :ACDSSS has its origin after long birth pangs due to charity and welfare approaches of development. Down through the years, our area in and around Agra witnessed this 'band-aid' development which could not heal the wounds of exploitation, lopsided development and various discriminations. As a panacea to this age old problems faced by the poorest people, our pioneers developed a vision for a new Society based on justice, equality and fullness of life for all. Thus the Agra Catholic Diocese Samaj Seva Sanstha (ACDSSS) came into existence under the leadership of our pioneers Re. Fr. Ivan OFM Cap, Rev. Fr. Joe Vadakekkara and Rev. Fr. Thomas K.C and got registered as a Social Service Society in 1993.
From 1994 under the leadership of Most Rev. Dr. Cecil DeSa and Rev. Fr. Vargheese Kunnath - the then President and Secretary of the organization, the Society initiated an organized way of social work and started Adult Education and community health education in selected villages in Agra district. U.K.S.V.K. played a major role in establishing social work in the districts of Agra, Mathura, Firozabad and Etah. Soon a band of Fatima Sisters joined the Organization. Based in Agra, the Society made inroads into the lives of broken people who have experienced the bitterness of exploitation and discrimination at various levels. The dalits and women got attracted to the vision and mission of ACDSSS and in course of time the seeds of social transformation began to yield results. In July 2002 Rev. Fr. Alwyn Pinto (MSW) became the Director of ACDSSS and played a major role in establishing the systems of the organization
Slowly the organization took roots in the rich soil of Mathura, Etah, Kasgang, Firozabad districts. We adopted villages for integrated development. Since 1998, people's organization became the major thrust of the organization where we focused on building 'social capital' and thereby the participation of people in development actions. All the principles of animation were followed in the formation of groups. With the help of many capacity building exercises, we could elicit the collaboration of many more in the activities.
In July 2008 Rev. Fr. Vinoy P.M (MSW) Joined ACDSSS and became the Direct from July 2009 to continue the developmental works for the poor and marginalized sections of the society. The role of ACDSSS now is that of a co-worker and companion. In all the development actions, right from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, the policy of 'people first' has been followed. Now we participate in their programs whereby we make ourselves available according to the convenience of the people - day or night, winter or summer, rain or drought.
2017 July Rev. Fr.Vinoy P.M was transferred and Rev. Fr.Shibu Kuriakose took over the charge of ACDSSS’s director and continues the mission of enhancing people’s life.
ACDSSS has evolved into sharing the benefits of inclusive development fueled by participatory decision making over the years. Inclusive development is that includes everybody especially the marginalized and the discriminated. Those living in rural or remote areas or urban slums often do not benefit from developmental initiatives. And therefore we in our participatory efforts try to address the concerns of women, children, adolescents, differently abled and farmers through our interventions. During the past years, we have developed a strong resource base for capacity building of various stakeholders across four of our intervention districts
The operational areas of the organization are Firozabad, Tundla, Kasganj, Mathura, Khandauli, Fathehabad and Shamshabad blocks of Agra district. Over all we have adopted above 150 villages. We also work for the children with disabilities of Missionaries of charity Agra
In these areas major population falls under the category of below poverty line (BPL) and constitutes of SC and backward class people. In these areas even the basic amenities of the life is not available and people are being suppressed for long years.
Since 1993 organization has been intervening and putting tremendous effort for the upliftment of these downtrodden people of the society and following the policy of philanthropist.

Women empowerment program is spread across 24 villages of Agra distric and aims at addressing gender specific concerns in the community at rural level. Often time it is noted that women tend to develop an inferior psyche if they are deprived of spaces to express themselves. Considering women as the equally potential donor as men do to the society we fashion scope for women to participate in public undertakings in the villages and encourage them lobby for informed decision making. Activities with women are designed to enhance their confidence and self-esteem. In the course of time we see women emerge leading communities and fighting exploitation at various level. The women empowered raise voice against the rights of the mighty and facilitate collective actions to serve justice. We deliberately stand behind the women energy and escort their networks with government and other public serving entities to access entitlements for all deserving members in the community. In this journey of empowerment our stakeholders are mentored and capacitated with various skills so that they would control and own the journey as they move ahead.
To derive most possible outcomes right now we are focused on educating women on methods to address distressing situations over water, energy, transportation and livelihood in the villages with panchayati raj governing institutions. We generate sensitivity in connection with women centered topics such as dowry, domestic violence, molestation and rape in rural areas by way of spreading awareness. Non-Formal Education centres in the villages aid people of all ages to access basic education skills of reading and writing. Vocational training on tailoring and basic cosmetology are employed to help women earn skills for income generation. Medical camps and perception boosting are driven in the villages time to time in order to bring into being a pro-active citizenary against diseases such as HIV/AIDS, T.B and various Sexually transmitted infections and promote reproductive child health care. One of the remarkble activities that we undertake involves income generating capcity building training with women group. Desiring Women are organized into groups at village level and trained on financial literacy; investments, saving, rolling funds, accounting and banking.
Access to education is a proclaimed universal right of children. It is indispensible for children to develop enhanced cognition and thus acquire benefitting social skills. Unfortunately many children are deprived of this opportunity falling prey to exploitation and injustice. It becomes an obvious experience if a child is born to a poor family. In the absence of any better livelihood opportunity other than agriculture most of the parents in our intervention area spread across 40 villages of Agra district are forced to depend on wage labour. Parents spent most part of the income on food and hardly anything left for health and education of the children. Besides, various health schemes that tooled by the government are inaccessible for people in general. Worst to the plight, health centres are nearly non-functional and is taxing the health benefits of people.
We effort to create space for non-formal education to children who have come out of labouring in factories and agricultural farms through community located centres. ACDSSS educate Panchayati Raj Institutions, industrialists and other service providers to understand the need for educating children. While promoting child education we guide the parents of poor children to develop self employment via linking them with local financial institutions. Social mobilization and networking are keenly followed to converge with district administration and address the immediate health needs of the liberated children and their family members.
ACDSSS started off to work with young mothers and adolescent girls envisioning a ominous future built on the family unit of society in January 2019. Equity was one of our core values we diligently applied while working with vulnerable group such as women and adolescent girls over the years. For the sake of family female members are often found refused nutrition, education and social acceptance. They end up with ill health, early marriage and social stigma of discrimination. ACDSSS fashioned a mission to serve such underprivileged young mothers and girls benefitting the backing of our well wishers in 15 villages of Ganjdunduwara block of Kasganj district. During the time elaped ACDSSS educated young mothers and adolescent girls on healthy practices for a bright future. Awareness campaigns and immunization drives conducted to enlighten the women on various diseases. Superstitious beliefs confronted with scientific education. Self Help Groups formed to develop habits of saving as well as income generation. Nutrion gardens resulted in many families from the concerted efforts of the organization and the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
SAKHI-Gender and Development
ACDSSS began to work with adolescent girls in order to enhance gender balanced development. The project timed current focused on education in relation with gender and reproductive health in 10 villages of Mathura district. We conducted vocational training on stitching, embroidery, beautician and computer aided drafting, painting and editing with desired adolescent students.
Community based rehabilitation programme implemented as an ongoing mission in order to generate acceptance and compassion for individuals who are considered differently abled. The programme is spread across 178 villages of Ganjdunduwara Sawar blocks of Kasganj district of U.P. We take initiatives to connect children and youngsters with disabilities with government aid initiatives for the differently abled. In the present 40 Children with disabilities and 16 children with mental retardation are cared under the programme. The organization encourage individuals with disabilities to acquire education and livelihood through groups such as Disabled Person Organization (DPO) while webbing the DPOs with government and other aid agencies to access educational materials, health benefits such as surgery and therapy, aid implements and entitlements
We live in changing times and changing climate. Climate change is the hot-button issue of the time. Changing climate has resulted in flash floods, drought, melting of ice, incessant rain even social conflicts all over the world. The immediate concern of climate change is found to be the threat it weaves over the food security and the life of people across the states. The fundamental ambition of ACDSSS associating with farmers is to develop climate resilient practices across marginalized population. We promoted water conservation techniques, Climate resilient organic farming and participatory possibilities for carbon reduction to farmers of 10 villages of Mathura district of U.P in the year.
ACDSSS indulged in activities empowering marginalized communities by generating sustainable livelihood opportunities through improved and cost effective agricultural practices and livestock management. Farmers are trained in choosing better live stock, effective feeding, vaccination and insemination for enhancing breed quality. It also targets women and youth to enhance their vocational skills to adopt self-employment which ultimately increases their family income.
Building healthy communities is one of the pivotal subjects of ACDSSS’s intervention in the life of marginalized and the vulnerable. Spread across 20 villages of Maharara block of Eta district of Uttar Pradesh community health initiatives steer consciousness on infectious diseases and promote sanitation.
Our distinct approach in the project period involves awareness maneuvers, periodic medical camps and training and education detailing methods of disease prevention. Awareness maneuvers through street plays and puppet shows are positioned to attract people’s attention to adopting practices helpful in keeping infectious diseases like Malaria, Diarrhea and T.B at bay. Medical camps at regular interval bring immunization and medicines for pathogenic illness and general health disorders to villages lack medical assistance. We indulge in activities that loop primary health centers and district administration with village people for accessing government prerogative on health.
